City Plants 75 New Trees

In September 2018 Public Works reached out and invited Edmonds Village residents to attend a community outreach meeting hosted by the Tree Board on new trees and plants bordering Center Dr and Edmonds Village.

The Edmonds Village Planting Project will plant approximately 75 new trees along Center Drive. Twelve Willow trees will have to be removed due to safety reasons since the trees are rotting causing the branches to break. Public Works will be planting Western Red Cedars, Japanese Maples, Crimson Cloud Hawthorn, Rhododendrons/Azaleas, and Hedge Maples. This will add more color, create some privacy for the houses that border Center Dr, and potentially reduce the sound from the street.

Mike Farley, Chairman of the Tree Board, has been instrumental in helping plan the layout and placement of the trees. Volunteers make all the difference so a huge thank-you to all of those that get involved and make a positive impact on the community.

Planting is scheduled to be completed on March 8.
